Iceland has become one of the most popular winter travel destinations, attracting adventurers and nature lovers with its breathtaking landscapes, stunning Northern Lights, and unique geothermal attractions. However, traveling to Iceland in winter means facing freezing temperatures, unpredictable weather, and icy terrains.
Proper packing is crucial to ensure you stay warm, dry, and comfortable while experiencing all that Iceland has to offer. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to pack for a successful and enjoyable winter trip to Iceland. From warm clothing layers to winter gear and essential toiletries, you’ll be fully prepared to explore the Land of Fire and Ice.
1) Warm Layers: Clothing and Accessories
When it comes to Iceland’s winter weather, layering is your best friend. Temperatures can vary greatly, and the wind chill can make it feel even colder. Packing the right layers will help you stay comfortable, no matter the conditions.
Warm Base Layers
Start with thermal base layers to retain heat. Look for high-quality options made from merino wool or synthetic materials designed to wick away moisture while keeping you warm. Thermal tops, thermal leggings, and fleece-lined tights are absolute essentials.
Mid-Layers for Insulation
For your mid-layer, opt for fleece-lined joggers or fleece-lined leggings paired with a cozy sweater or fleece jacket. These layers provide insulation without being bulky, making it easier to move around and stay active.
Outer Layers for Weather Protection
Icelandic weather is known for its unpredictability, so a waterproof winter jacket or puffer jacket is non-negotiable. Choose a jacket that is insulated and windproof to protect you from the elements. A heated jacket can also be a game-changer for those extra chilly days.
Don’t forget to pack a pair of waterproof winter boots with good traction to navigate icy paths and snowy landscapes. Pair them with wool socks to keep your feet warm and dry.
Accessories for Extra Warmth
Complete your winter wardrobe with fleece-lined touchscreen gloves, a warm hat, and a scarf or neck gaiter. These accessories will protect your extremities from the cold while allowing you to use your phone to capture those unforgettable moments. Keep a few hand warmers in your pockets for added warmth during outdoor activities.
2) Winter Gear: Snow and Ice Essentials
Iceland’s icy landscapes and winter activities require specific gear to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Crampons for Icy Trails
If you plan to explore Iceland’s glaciers, frozen waterfalls, or icy hiking trails, crampons are a must-have. These traction devices attach to your boots, providing extra grip on slippery surfaces.
Ski Goggles for Harsh Conditions
Wind and snow can make visibility challenging, especially in Iceland’s open landscapes. A pair of ski goggles will protect your eyes and improve your visibility during outdoor adventures.
Thermal Blankets for Emergencies
Thermal blankets are lightweight, compact, and can be lifesavers in emergencies. Whether you’re on a road trip or hiking, it’s always wise to carry one.
Renting Winter Gear
If you don’t own all the gear, consider renting items like crampons or ski goggles from local shops in Reykjavik or at popular tourist sites. This can save you space in your luggage while ensuring you have the right equipment for your trip.
3) Electronics and Photography Equipment
Iceland is a photographer’s dream, with its stunning landscapes, glaciers, and Northern Lights. To capture the beauty of this winter wonderland, pack the right electronics and photography gear.
Essential Camera Gear
A high-quality camera is essential for photographing Iceland’s natural wonders. Don’t forget to bring spare batteries, as cold weather drains battery life quickly. A portable charger is another must-have to keep all your devices powered on the go.
For those wanting to capture professional-quality photos, consider bringing a tripod for long-exposure shots of the Northern Lights. A wide-angle lens is also recommended for capturing Iceland’s expansive landscapes.
Waterproof Electronics Cases
With Iceland’s unpredictable weather, protecting your electronics from moisture is crucial. Pack waterproof cases or dry bags for your camera and phone to avoid damage.
4) Toiletries and Medications
Staying clean and healthy is essential for enjoying your trip, especially when dealing with cold weather and outdoor activities.
Toiletries for Harsh Conditions
The cold air and wind in Iceland can take a toll on your skin. Pack a good moisturizer, lip balm with SPF, and sunscreen to protect your skin from the elements. Hand warmers are also useful for keeping your hands comfortable during outdoor adventures.
Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit! Iceland is famous for its geothermal hot springs and lagoons, such as the Blue Lagoon and Secret Lagoon. Soaking in the warm waters is a must-do activity, even in the winter.
Medications and First Aid
Pack any prescription medications you need, as well as over-the-counter items like pain relievers and motion sickness pills. If you’re planning to drive or take a boat tour, these can come in handy. A small first-aid kit is also a good idea for minor injuries or emergencies.
Proper packing can make or break your winter trip to Iceland. By following this ultimate packing list, you’ll be well-prepared to handle Iceland’s chilly temperatures, snowy landscapes, and unforgettable adventures. Happy Monday!
Sorry for being MIA on the blog for a week. We took a 7-day cruise and the internet was so bad. I am back now and will be able to show you all of the pictures from our recent trip. Let me start off with all my looks from the beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico.
These dresses below will also be perfect…
Exploring San Juan
San Juan was the second port we visited out of the four on our itinerary, but it has a unique vibe compared to the others. You can see the rich culture of this country, especially considering they are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Irma.
Castillo San Cristobal
The gorgeous view of the city from Castillo San Cristobal, where my Look 1 was taken, is breathtaking. The beautiful fortress offers a lot of historical insights. It reminds me of Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila, my hometown in the Philippines. Both were discovered by the Spanish in 1521.
Must-Try Local Delicacies
Puerto Rico is where you can taste the best Piña Colada, as it originated there. Another must-try is their very tasty mofongo.
Outfits for San Juan
Now, let me talk about the outfits:
First Dress: It was really flowy and perfect for being blown away by the warm breeze, ideal for summer trips like this.
Second Dress: This dress blended in perfectly with the colorful architecture of the city and was so light.
Travel Recommendation
I highly recommend you visit this beautiful city, either by cruise or flying in. However, the kids did not enjoy this port as much because all they wanted to do was swim, swim, and more swim.
Your Thoughts?
What do you think about the dresses? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you for stopping by! See you in the next blog post.

Travel Guide: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Cabo San Lucas is the perfect destination for a romantic couple’s trip. My partner and I recently visited this beautiful city in Baja California Sur, Mexico for my post-40th birthday celebration, and it did not disappoint. The stunning scenery, amazing food, and exciting activities made our trip unforgettable. We booked a package deal that included both our flights and hotel, which made planning our trip stress-free. We made sure to choose a hotel that was centrally located, with easy access to all the activities we wanted to do.
Overall, our couple’s trip to Cabo San Lucas was an amazing experience. So, if you’re looking for the perfect destination for a romantic couple’s trip, look no further than Cabo San Lucas. From stunning scenery to exciting activities and delicious food, this city has it all. Keep reading for our travel guide on where to stay, what to do, and what to wear while you’re there. You won’t want to miss out on the unforgettable experiences waiting for you in Cabo San Lucas.
Travel Guide: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Cabo San Lucas in Mexico is a beautiful travel destination where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. It’s known for its warm weather and stunning beaches like Cabos Beach and Medano Beach. You can also explore the Sierra Madre Occidental and mountain ranges for outdoor activities like golfing, horseback riding, and scuba diving. Downtown Cabo offers plenty of shops, restaurants, and nightlife options. You can also visit San José del Cabo or the Rio Grande on the Baja California Peninsula or take a trip to the Gulf of Mexico or Mexico City. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation or an action-packed adventure, Cabo San Lucas has something for everyone.
Where To Stay In Cabo San Lucas Mexico
Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas caught my attention as it is adjacent to the breathtaking view of The Arch of Cabo San Lucas or Land’s End. Secondly, it has a reasonable price point and it is all-inclusive which means we don’t need to be worried about the food and drinks which usually is expensive when you are on your trip. They have of course buffet-style restaurants, they also have specialty restaurants. A steakhouse, Italian, Japanese, and Indian restaurants and you have access to the other 2 Riu Hotels around the area.
The hotel is about 30 mins from the airport and make sure to arrange your transportation before your trip so you already have a ride when you get to the airport. We used Transcabo they were cheap and efficient for our roundtrip airport transport. It is a shared van but they are very clean. It was $88 for both me and my husband for the roundtrip.
The Hotel has a lot of swimming pools and some were adult pools and they also have pools for the little ones. The hotel I located beachfront, the beach looks amazing but the waves are I think surfer friendly. You won’t be able to swim as the waves were huge! So September is hurricane season but we were blessed with good weather and it was in the 90s when we were there. Also, the rooms are a good size and we had the beach view.
The hotel also offers free covid tests for all USA clients and if you test positive they let you stay 10 days to quarantine.
Best Things To Do In Cabo San Lucas Mexico
LAND’S END(EL ARCO)
The iconic rock formations where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez are a must-visit attraction in Cabo San Lucas. At the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, you’ll find these stunning rock formations that have been carved by the sea over time. A boat tour can take you up close to the arch where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez.
SUNSET CRUISE
On our first day, we did the sunset cruise around the arch. It was the perfect thing to do because it was so relaxing! The view was breathtaking, and the water was so beautiful. We used the Cabo Blue Boat. They charge $50 per person and it includes unlimited drinks non-alcoholic and alcoholic and some light snacks. It was a spacious boat for everyone to be able to socially distance from others. Make sure to get a picture taken when you get to the arch. We did not get good ones as there was a couple where the man proposed to now his fiancé while we were there. So happy for them but they kinda took the moment lol!
DOWNTOWN CABO SAN LUCAS
The heart of the city is a vibrant and bustling area that offers something for everyone. You can stroll along the marina, shop for souvenirs at the local markets, dine at one of the many restaurants, or dance the night away at one of the nightclubs. It’s a great place to experience the local culture and soak up the lively atmosphere.
PLAYA EL MEDANO AND CHILENO BEACH
These two beaches are some of the most popular in Cabo San Lucas. Playa El Médano is a long stretch of golden sand that’s perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. Chileno Beach is a smaller, more secluded beach that’s great for snorkeling and relaxing. Both offer stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape.
SAN JOSE DEL CABO
The charming town located just a short drive from Cabo San Lucas is known for its historic architecture, art galleries, and traditional Mexican cuisine. You can wander through the narrow streets, browse the local shops, and sample some of the delicious food at one of the many restaurants.
ATV AND CAMEL RIDE
Here I booked it through Funcabo and they have a lot of other fun activities you can think of from there, horseback riding, helicopter riding, swimming with the dolphins, kayaking, paddle boarding, and a lot more! Most of them charge you a 50% down payment and you will just give them the full payment on the day of your trip. This activity was fun and unique for us.
TODOS SANTOS
This picturesque town is located about an hour’s drive from Cabo San Lucas and is known for its art scene and surf culture. You can explore the local galleries, visit the historic Mission of Santa Rosa de Todos Santos, or catch some waves at one of the nearby beaches. It’s a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Cabo San Lucas and experience a more laid-back vibe.

Best Time To Visit Cabo San Lucas Mexico
Cabo San Lucas, located on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, is a popular tourist destination known for its warm weather and beautiful beaches like Medano Beach. The area is also home to natural resources like the Sierra Madre Occidental and mountain ranges, as well as several golf courses, horseback riding, and scuba diving opportunities. If you’re planning a visit, it’s best to avoid the busiest months (December to April) and instead, consider the shoulder season (May to June or September to November) for fewer crowds.
Cabo San Lucas also hosts several events throughout the year, including the Los Cabos International Film Festival in November and the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament in October. If you have time, consider exploring other areas of the peninsula, like San José del Cabo or the Rio Grande, or even take a trip to the Yucatán Peninsula or Mexico City. What to Pack for a Trip to A Theme Park
What to Pack for a Trip to A Theme Park is what I will discuss sharing our recent trip to Universal Studios Florida. This will help you plan your trip and also save you money! First up is to wear comfy outfits and especially shoes to make you last the whole day and get your money’s worth of fun!
Now, let me give you the checklist on what to pack so you will not have to be like me who ended up buying all the stuff I already have in the theme park which cost triple its usual price. These are all basic items everyone should bring. If you are a family of five like me you might need a duffel bag.
What to Pack for a Trip to A Theme Park
- Portable Phone charger so your phone will last all day. I know you will be documenting and taking a lot of photos and videos on this trip.
- Towel in case you will be riding something that you will get wet.
- Slippers if you are not wearing waterproof shoes.
- Rain poncho is it might rain and you don’t want the rain to stop the fun.
- Sunscreen so you will not get toasted under the sun while enjoying all the rides!
- Portable Fan, it might get too hot at the theme park. This can save you a lot and keep your energy level to last you a day in the park.
- Scrunchie if you have long hair so your hair will not be getting into your face when you are screaming at the top of your lungs on a roller coaster.
- Waterproof Phone case to keep your phone safe!
- Sunglasses to protect your eyes when it gets too sunny and hot.
- Hat to protect you from heat stroke especially if you are prone to getting one.

Day Trip at Greenbrier State Park
Day Trip At Greenbrier State Park
If you live here in the DMV, and are looking for some places to go to for the weekend that is best for family and friends gathering. A day trip to Greenbrier State Park is a good way to do it.
Greenbrier State Park is a multi-use park that offers hiking, canoeing, boating and fishing, swimming, picnicking areas, and more. The park is located in the Appalachian mountains and features a 42-acre man-made freshwater lake. The visitor center is open year-round, offering information on the history of the area and its wildlife. It’s not too far from DC, probably about an hour or so. I live in southern Maryland and it was an hour and a half for us, which is not bad at all because the park is well-maintained and there are a lot of fun things that you can do there.
My advice would be to go early! When we were leaving by 2 pm, the line of cars trying to get in the park was sooooo long! Also, there’s an entrance fee of $3 per person who isn’t in a car seat but will go up this Memorial weekend to $5 per person. This is outdoor too, so there will be a lot of spaces for you to social distance!

Day Trip At Greenbrier State Park
What To Do In Greenbrier State Park
Greenbrier State Park is a multi-use park on the shore of Lake Moomaw in Maryland. The park offers access to the Appalachian Trail, tons of nice picnic areas, and access to the beach as well as other outdoor activities. Here are some of the ways to enjoy yourself at Greenbrier State Park:
PICNIC
They’ve got tons of picnic tables here, just in case you’re thinking of celebrating something and want to do it somewhere different from your home that isn’t cramped and is outdoors. I don’t think you have to reserve them, but you can always call to make sure. We didn’t have a hard time finding any picnic areas under the shade either if you’re looking to stay cool.
BOATING, PADDLE BOARDING, PEDAL BOATING, AND KAYAKING
They have boat and pedal boat rentals, but for the kayaks and paddle boards, you should bring your own. The park’s man-made freshwater lake attracts a lot of swimmers, canoeists, and boaters. The lake is big enough for everyone to enjoy!
SWIMMING IN THE LAKE
Greenbrier State Park was a winner also since going to the other good beach was at least 3 HOURS AWAY! The freshwater lake and white sandy beach draw a lot of visitors who enjoy swimming and tanning. It was nice for my baby to play in the sand and enjoy the beach too! And there were other families there, which I loved seeing!
HIKING
The hiking trail was good according to hubby! He also went biking there too and said it was a good 5-mile hike distance. I thought Greenbrier State Park was a really great place to hike! The Appalachian Trail goes right through the park, and there are plenty of other trails to hike. Whether you’re looking for a short hike or one that will take you all day, Greenbrier State Park has something for everyone.
Greenbrier State Park Hours
The park is open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to sunset. With daylight savings time, that could be anytime in between 5 p.m. in some of the colder months, and 7 p.m. during the warmer half of the year. If you want to see their park schedule for events and hours, click HERE.
You can see the beautiful lake behind me, and the hiking trail too! It was a great way to spend a day here!
When you’re looking for a place to relax, Greenbrier State Park has you covered. It’s got a man-made lake with white sand beaches, a visitor center that’s open year-round, and Bartman Hill—a mountaintop overlooking the lake and even the Appalachian Trail!
So, if you’re thinking about visiting Greenbrier State Park this summer but looking for some activities that aren’t as intense as hiking or biking on the Appalachian Trail (but still offer an amazing view), consider bringing your swimsuit along.
You’ll be glad you did!

Our Stay at Tommie Hollywood (Review)
Sharing a review of our stay at Tommie Hollywood to see if this is the right fit for your trip to Los Angles, California. So I booked this hotel because it was within the budget and liked the photo on the internet and specially the location were everything is walking distance to the tourist spots. Checking in was easy easy!
Our Stay at Tommie Hollywood (Review)
THE ROOM:
The room did not disappoint, I was thinking it will be small, but it was a perfect size for a couple. They do not have a closet for clothes but their bed has those drawers to put your clothes and a hook for a few clothes to hang. The bathroom is a decent size and we also love the aesthetic, they have toiletries included the basics. The bed is comfy and we love the view of our room, we were located at the back of the hotel though.
LOCATION:
The hotel is 45 minutes away from LAX, not bad at all and they have a Valet parking on site for our rental car. The location is really great and truly a walking distance to a lot of tourist spots (Hollywood walk of fame) and restaurants. You can actually se the Hollywood sign from the Hotels rooftop bar.
AMENITIES:
The rooftop pool is open but it was Fall and it gets cold in the morning and night so not sure if anybody was able to use it for swimming during the warm afternoon but it was gorgeous.
They have this rooftop bar were as some online reviews saying that it was loud at night that they cannot sleep due to the roof top party. Maybe their room is right below the bar because we did not hear any of the party music in our room. They were having parties back to back when we were there (Halloween Parties!) because it was the Halloween weekend.
They have their own restaurant and it looks really good. We just did not want to eat there as we want to explore what is around the area. They serve Mexican food in their restaurant here.
I love the lobby, it looks so chic and comfy with the fireplace, lovely interior design! They do have a snack bar at the lobby, we just did not get to use it, supposed to be free snack and coffee in the morning as they did not have enough staff during our stay as noted by the receptionist. They do have a mini convenience store on the side for quick bites and an ATM machine inside.
Another quick note, if you do have a rental car, it is so expensive to do the valet parking aside from the Valet parking feee there is an extra something fee I noticed during my check out when you use that service. Overall experience was good and will highly recommend, the staff were also very friendly and helpful! Check out our 4 Day Southern California Itinerary.

Things to Do in Mykonos, Greece
I have always dreamed of visiting Greece specially Santorini. But I had to choose between Santorini and Mykonos. I did a little researched before I made the booking and found a lot of articles saying that Mykonos is good for family travelers. I was right about my choice even though I have not been to Santorini because our whole family really enjoyed our stay in the island.

Our hotel is 10 mins away from the airport. We stayed at Flaskos Suites which I highly recommend!!! 10/10 free Hotel and airport transfer from 9am to 10pm, friendly and reliable staff, super clean, yummy breakfast, perfect pool and sea view and 5 mins walk from the beach.
Beside our Hotel is the Limnios Tavern Restaurant (Greek Mykonian Flavours) and the food was amazing!! I enjoyed their stuffed mushrooms 🙂 The staff are friendly and you will have the sea view while dining.
Things we did was renting a car so we can get around the whole island. It was easy to do as our hotel contacted their recommended rent a car dealer and they fetch us from the hotel to their office so we can choose the car and when we returned the car. They also dropped us back to our hotel and it was free and very convenient.
We wanted to try driving the ATV’s but we have the kids with us so we just took a picture on them.
We drove around the island and when to check out the other beaches, the beautiful Mykonos town, Little Venice and the very famous Windmills. There you can find different restaurants and shops depending on your taste.
