Jim Thorpe Fall Train Ride: What I Loved, What I’d Do Differently, and Honest Tips for Families

Christianne's family enjoying the Jim Thorpe Train Ride during a fall day trip

My outfit: SHOP NOW

If you’ve seen photos of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania in the fall, you already know—it looks straight out of a Hallmark movie. 🍂 Cozy streets, charming inns, mountain views, and that iconic fall train ride that winds through colorful foliage.

So of course, we had to go see it for ourselves this year. But let’s just say… our experience wasn’t quite the peaceful small-town day trip I imagined. Between traffic, parking struggles, long lines, and crowds from the Fall Festival, it turned into quite an adventure (and a lesson learned!).

If you’re planning to visit Jim Thorpe during peak fall season, this honest review will help you know what to expect—and how to make your trip smoother than ours.

Jim Thorpe Train Ride: Our Fall Day Trip to Jim Thorpe, PA

We left our hotel around 10:30 a.m. for what was supposed to be a quick 35-minute drive to Jim Thorpe. The plan was simple: grab lunch in town, take the scenic fall foliage train ride, and explore the cute shops before heading back.

But once we were about a mile and a half away from the train station, everything came to a standstill. Traffic barely moved. It took us an entire hour just to move one mile. The roads were packed with other cars trying to get into town for the Fall Festival.

When we finally got close enough, parking became another challenge. Every lot was full, so we ended up finding a space up a hill, about a 15-minute walk from the main street. That’s fine when you’re on vacation, but when you’ve got kids and a full day ahead—it’s not ideal.

The Long Wait for Tickets

Once we reached the train station, the line for tickets was incredibly long. We arrived around 1:15 p.m. and didn’t get our tickets until after 3:00 p.m.—that’s about two hours of standing in line, and there weren’t many seats around. Everyone was just waiting on their feet under the sun, hoping the tickets wouldn’t sell out.

When we finally got our tickets, the only available time was for the 5:00 p.m. train ride, which meant more waiting. There were no clear lines or systems for boarding either. Once the train arrived, it was a bit of a free-for-all—whoever moved fastest got in first. The staff were kind and friendly, but things definitely felt unorganized. I believe it’s because it was also Fall Festival weekend, which brings extra crowds.

The Scenic Train Ride: Beautiful but Short

Scenic fall view along the Jim Thorpe Train Ride.

Once we finally boarded, the train itself was beautiful. The views were stunning—vibrant fall leaves, mountain backdrops, and that crisp autumn air that makes you forget the stress of getting there. The ride lasts about 45 minutes, which is perfect for families with kids.

It’s definitely picturesque and makes for great photos and videos (mine turned out dreamy!). But if I’m being honest, after six hours of traffic and waiting, it was hard to feel like the effort matched the experience.

Would I do it again? Probably—but I’d do it very differently next time.

What I’d Do Differently Next Time

If I could redo our Jim Thorpe trip, here’s exactly what I’d change (and what I recommend if you’re planning yours):

1. Arrive Early—Like 7:00 a.m. Early

This is my biggest tip! Jim Thorpe gets very crowded during peak fall weekends, especially in October. Getting there early means easier parking, shorter lines, and more time to explore the town before your train ride.

2. Book Train Tickets Online (If Available)

Check the official website for advance ticket sales so you don’t have to wait in long lines. If online booking isn’t an option, arrive early and make that your first stop.

3. Bring Cash

Many parking areas and food vendors only accept cash. It’s good to have small bills on hand for convenience.

4. Stay Overnight

If possible, book a night or two at one of the charming inns or B&Bs in town. That way, you can enjoy the Fall Festival without rushing or worrying about parking.

5. Explore the Town Beyond the Train Ride

Bright yellow fall trees during the ride.

Jim Thorpe has so much to offer beyond the train! You’ll find:

  • 👻 Ghost Tours — spooky and fun for families with older kids
  • 🛍️ Antique & Gift Shops — unique finds and local crafts
  • 🍴 Restaurants & Cafés — cozy spots for hot cider or a warm meal
  • 🛶 Outdoor Activities — bike rentals, kayaking, and even white water rafting
  • 🎶 Live Music & Street Vendors — especially during festival weekends

6. Be Patient & Flexible

During peak season, expect crowds and lines. Bring snacks, water, and comfortable shoes, and plan your day with a little wiggle room.

The Good, the Bad, and the Memorable

Despite the long wait, we still made memories that we’ll laugh about later. The kids loved the train ride once we finally boarded, and the fall scenery really was breathtaking.

The staff were friendly and patient with the crowd, but the process could definitely be more organized—especially for families traveling with little ones.

It wasn’t the perfect trip, but it’s one of those experiences you’ll always remember, partly because of how real it was. And that’s what family travel is all about, right? Learning, laughing, and figuring out what to do differently next time.

Is the Jim Thorpe Train Ride Worth It This Fall?

If you’re local or within driving distance, I’d say yes—it’s worth doing once. The train ride is short but beautiful, and the town of Jim Thorpe itself has a timeless charm.

Just plan smart: arrive early, pack patience, and be ready to explore more than just the train. Even if your trip doesn’t go perfectly, you’ll still come home with cozy memories and maybe a few funny stories to tell.

Would we go again? Definitely—but next time, we’ll be there bright and early with coffee in hand.

Quick Tips Recap

  • Arrive by 7:00 a.m. to beat the crowds
  • Bring cash for parking and vendors
  • Expect traffic and long lines during Fall Festival
  • Book overnight stay at a local inn if you can
  • Explore beyond the train — shops, food, ghost tours, outdoor fun

Final Word on the Jim Thorpe Train Ride

Even though it wasn’t the smoothest experience, there’s something about small-town fall adventures that makes them special. Jim Thorpe really does look like the “Switzerland of America,” and despite the chaos, it’s easy to see why people fall in love with it.

Sometimes the beauty makes the chaos worth it. 🍂

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3

If you’ve ever stared at an empty suitcase before a family vacation and thought, “Where do I even start?” you are my people. Before our 7-day Caribbean cruise this summer, I promised myself I wouldn’t overpack—but I also refused to be the mom who forgets the tiny things that make life at sea easier. After juggling three kids (a teen, a tween, and a kindergartener), I can officially say these are the very useful things I packed on our 7-day cruise as a mom of 3—and every single one earned its space in my bag.

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3

1. A Small, Organized Carry-On for Embarkation Day

Cruise cabins aren’t always ready right when you board, so I kept a small carry-on with swimsuits, sunscreen, and snacks. The kids were able to hit the pool while our luggage was still being delivered, and I didn’t have to dig through giant suitcases.

2. Magnetic Hooks & Clips

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3 by Simply Christianne - Magnetic Hooks & Clips

Cruise cabin walls are magnetic (who knew?!). I packed a set of heavy-duty magnetic hooks and clips to hang wet swimsuits, keep lanyards off the floor, and hold excursion tickets. Total game-changer for a family of five sharing one room.

3. Foldable Laundry Hamper

A pop-up mesh hamper kept dirty clothes corralled instead of all over the floor. When it was time to pack, I just dumped everything straight into a laundry bag for home.

4. Portable Power Strip (Cruise-Approved)

Between three kids’ tablets and our phones, outlets disappear fast. I brought a non-surge power strip approved for cruises, and we never fought over charging space.

5. Refillable Water Bottles & Insulated Tumblers

Buying bottled water adds up. We brought reusable bottles and insulated tumblers for cold drinks by the pool and for filling up before excursions.

6. Waterproof Phone Pouches

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3 by Simply Christianne - Waterproof Phone PouchesFrom snorkeling to splash zones, these waterproof pouches kept my phone and SeaPass card dry. Bonus: they make great lanyards for kids’ cruise cards.

7. Travel-Size First Aid Kit

Band-aids, motion sickness bands, kids’ fever meds—you name it. I don’t like hunting down a ship’s medical center for a simple scrape.

8. Wrinkle Release Spray

Very Useful Things I Packed on Our 7-Day Cruise as a Mom of 3 by Simply Christianne - Wrinkle Release Spray

Can’t iron clothes? no problem, just spray this and pat the garment flat and it will smoothen the wrinkles.

9. Over the Door Shoe Organizer

Over the Door Shoe Organizer

This helps me not having shoe clutters since we are a family of 5 with different shoes.

10. A “Mom Survival Pouch”

This is my secret weapon: a small cosmetic bag with hand sanitizer, lip balm, stain stick, tissues, and a tiny hairbrush. I grabbed it countless times during the week.

Why These Cruise Essentials Matter

Packing smart meant I wasn’t constantly buying overpriced extras or searching the ship for things we forgot. Each of these items solved a real problem: staying organized, keeping the kids comfortable, and letting us enjoy every minute of vacation.

Final Packing Tips for a 7-Day Cruise with Kids

  • Roll, don’t fold. Saves space and keeps clothes wrinkle-free.

  • Use packing cubes. Give each child a color for instant organization.

  • Check the dress code. One nice outfit per person for formal night is plenty.

If you’re heading out soon, save this list of very useful things to pack for a 7-day cruise with kids so you can relax and actually enjoy those ocean views instead of hunting for magnetic hooks at the ship’s gift shop. If you want outfit ideas check this post

5-Day Spring Break Family Adventure to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Our 5-Day Spring Break Family Adventure to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

What to Do, Where to Stay, Where to Eat & What to Pack

Hello friends! I’ve been getting a lot of questions about our recent family trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee—so here’s the gist of it. For spring break this year, we packed up the car and drove south from Maryland to explore the magic of the Smokies. It was our first time visiting Gatlinburg, and it turned out to be one of our favorite family trips yet!

Whether you’re planning your first trip to Gatlinburg or looking for a family-friendly Tennessee itinerary, I’ve got you covered with what to do, where to stay, where to eat, and what to pack.

Our 5-Day Spring Break Family Adventure to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

SHOP NOW

Day 1: Road Tripping and Settling In

After an 8-hour drive from Maryland (yay for no tolls going south!), we arrived in Gatlinburg in the late afternoon. We were definitely ready to unwind. We checked into our Marriott Bonvoy hotel in a nearby city—not right in downtown Gatlinburg—because I always look for hotels with free parking, free breakfast, and a pool for the kids. That combo just works for our family of five!

Dinner that night was low-key—we found a nearby pizza spot and let the kids enjoy the hotel pool while we relaxed from the long drive.

Day 2: Lunch by the Stream & Fun at Anakeesta

Our original plan was to hike to Alum Cave at Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but we learned a few tips the hard way:

  • Parking at trailheads is limited—you’ll need a paid parking pass (available at the visitor center). Tip: Go early!

  • Cell service is spotty in the area (especially with T-Mobile).

So, we pivoted to Plan B: Anakeesta, and wow—we’re so glad we did!

Lunch at Howard’s Restaurant

IMG 8087

Before heading to the mountaintop park, we had lunch at Howard’s in downtown Gatlinburg. I tried the pulled pork to get a taste of authentic southern BBQ. We ate al fresco right by a peaceful stream, and the ambiance was perfect.

Anakeesta: A Must-Visit in Gatlinburg with Kids

IMG 8133

Anakeesta is perched at the top of a mountain, and you can get there by either a scenic chondola ride or a shuttle bus if heights aren’t your thing. Our whole family fell in love with this place.

Here’s why we loved it:

  • Teens & tweens enjoyed the mountain coaster.

  • Our toddler had a blast at the treehouse adventure playground (slides, climbing, jumping fun!), actually it was the whole family.

  • My husband and I soaked in the views and fresh mountain air while taking turns on bench breaks.

We easily spent 5 hours there. The kids didn’t want to leave, but we had evening plans for dinner and live music!

Day 3: Hiking Alum Cave + Ripley’s Aquarium

The next day, we got an early start and finally tackled the Alum Cave hike. It’s about 4.5 miles roundtrip, and it took us about 3 hours with plenty of rest breaks for snacks and water.

Tip: Wear good walking or hiking shoes, pack water bottles, and bring snacks. It’s a great family hike with rewarding views at the cave.

Post-Hike Eats at Sun Diner

After the hike, we were starving! We grabbed lunch at Sun Diner, and the food was a hit with the whole crew. From classic comfort food to kid-friendly dishes, we were all happy campers.

Afternoon Fun at Ripley’s Aquarium

We spent the afternoon exploring Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. The exhibits are interactive and engaging, especially for our youngest. There’s even a playground area for little ones, which was a great break for them to get some energy out.

Dinner was at Hard Rock Café, which offered familiar favorites and a lively atmosphere for the kids.

Day 4: A Magical Day Trip to Ancient Lore Village

On our last full day, we took a short road trip to Ancient Lore Village in Knoxville, and it felt like stepping into a storybook! We booked a day trip package that included lunch, and it was such a unique experience. The village is whimsical, beautifully themed, and super kid-friendly. I already wrote a detailed post about our visit [here—link your Ancient Lore blog post].

Final Dinner at Ole Red Gatlinburg

For our last dinner, we wanted somewhere fun—and Ole Red Gatlinburg did not disappoint. Owned by Blake Shelton, this spot has great country music, live performances, and the kind of food that makes you want seconds. Plus, we left with souvenir mason jar glasses, which I now use at home all the time!

Where We Stayed

We chose a Marriott Bonvoy hotel located outside the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg but still close enough to everything. The reasons we always stick to Marriott Bonvoy:

  • Free hot breakfast (saves so much with a family of 5!)

  • Indoor pool to keep the kids entertained

  • Free parking

  • Clean, comfortable rooms and good service

If you’re a family traveling with kids of varying ages, having a reliable hotel with these amenities is a game changer.

What to Pack for Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Our 5-Day Spring Break Family Adventure to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Packing for this trip involved being ready for all kinds of weather and activities. Here’s what I recommend bringing:

  • Sunscreen (lots of it—especially for those sunny hikes)

  • Swimsuits (hotel pool time is a must)

  • Comfy walking shoes

  • Hiking gear (lightweight backpack, snacks, water bottles)

  • Layered clothing (mornings can be chilly, afternoons warm)

  • Rain jackets or ponchos (just in case)

And of course—bring your camera or phone charger because there are so many beautiful and fun moments to capture!

Final Thoughts

Spring break in Gatlinburg, Tennessee was the perfect mix of adventure, rest, and family bonding. Whether you’re hiking through the Great Smokies, riding the mountain coaster at Anakeesta, or exploring magical villages in Knoxville, there’s something here for every age group.

What to Wear on a Summer Vacation in Europe with Kids

What to Wear on a Summer Vacation in Europe with Kids What to Wear on a Summer Vacation in Europe with Kids: My 2024 Outfits in Italy, South of France, Switzerland & Monaco

Planning a European summer vacation and wondering what to wear? After traveling to Italy, the South of France, Monaco, and Interlaken, Switzerland in Summer 2024 with my family (including my tween and little one!), I’ve learned what outfits work best for comfort, style, and practicality—especially when you’re walking a lot and taking lots of family photos!

From breezy cotton dresses for strolling cobblestone streets to swimsuits and sandals for coastal days, this is your ultimate Europe family travel fashion guide. I’ve also included tips for re-wearing and layering, and you’ll find splurge-worthy and affordable outfit suggestions for Summer 2025.

Let’s dive into what I actually wore!

What to Pack for a Summer Trip to Europe

Before we get into specific outfit looks, here are the must-pack wardrobe essentials that worked for me:

  • Lightweight midi/maxi dresses

  • Comfy sandals and white sneakers

  • Two swimsuits and versatile coverups

  • Chic sets or rompers

  • Crossbody and woven bags

  • Sunglasses, sunhat, scarf for layering

  • Optional: one neutral sweater or light jacket for evenings or cool areas

Now, let’s explore each destination and outfit inspiration from my trip!

Italy Outfits: Easy Breezy Dresses and Bold Prints

Italy in July was sunny, hot, and stylish—a fashion-lover’s dream! I wore bright printed dresses and comfortable sandals that worked for both sightseeing and gelato stops.

Florence Look:What to Wear on a Summer Vacation in Europe with Kids

A lemon print midi dress paired with white slides and a cream shoulder bag. This dress was light but had structure, which was perfect for the city.

Venice Look:What to Wear on a Summer Vacation in Europe with Kids

A red printed wrap-style dress that flowed beautifully in the breeze. Paired it with the same comfy white sandals I wore everywhere.

Lake Como:IMG 0605

I opted for a white eyelet mini dress with a ruffled hem, my go-to white sandals, and a crossbody for a walk along the water. I added a baseball cap for sun protection and a sporty touch.

Style tip: Stick to dresses you can dress up or down with accessories. I used one crossbody bag throughout and packed a woven tote for beachy days.

South of France Outfits: French Riviera Chic

For Nice and Èze, I leaned into vacation glam—florals, pastels, and polished silhouettes.

Beachfront Day in Nice:IMG 2364

A green lemon print smocked maxi dress that was breathable and photo-friendly. Paired it with red flat sandals and oversized sunglasses.

Day trip to Èze:IMG 2098

A red floral sundress with a square neckline, styled with white sandals and a straw tote. The narrow cobblestone alleys made this flowy dress both cute and practical.

Casual Evening:

A striped yellow-and-white cotton set with shorts and a button-down top. I loved this one for lounging on the balcony and grabbing dinner by the coast.

Mommy + Me Look:IMG 2288

My daughter and I matched in tiered white dresses with colorful fruit embroidery—so fun for family pictures and twirling!

Monaco Style: Polished Yet ComfortableIMG 2614

SHOP NOW

Monaco called for a bit of elevated elegance. I wore a neutral printed midi dress with black abstract details, paired with brown leather slides and a natural straw bag.

This look was chic yet understated—perfect for walking past the palace or exploring gardens.

Style tip: Choose breathable but elevated fabrics like cotton poplin or linen blends. It can be warm, but Monaco still feels polished.

Interlaken, Switzerland Outfits: Chic and Comfy for Exploring

Unlike the rest of our hot-weather stops, Interlaken was cooler and more relaxed—perfect for layering and cozy-chic styles.

My Interlaken Look:IMG 1579

I wore a sunny yellow puff sleeve dress with white sneakers and a small neutral bag. This dress felt pulled together while still being super comfortable for walking across bridges and strolling lakeside trails.

Another day, I wore a bold floral strappy midi dress, which was breathable for sunny afternoons and looked beautiful against Switzerland’s vibrant greenery.

Style tip: You don’t have to go full “hiking” mode unless you’re on the trails. For city strolls, opt for stylish sneakers, structured casual dresses, and a lightweight bag.

Poolside & Swimsuit LooksIMG 0832

We spent a few relaxing days near pools in Italy and the South of France. I packed two swimsuits:

  • A black high-waisted bikini that offered flattering support and comfort

  • A fruit-themed coverup dress that doubled as a beach outfit

For pool lounging, I wore a black bikini and added oversized sunglasses and my straw bag.

Style tip: Choose swimsuits you feel confident in, and opt for coverups that can double as dresses when transitioning from pool to café.

Travel Days & Casual Exploring

When we weren’t dressed up, I lived in coordinated sets and breezy travel outfits that still felt put-together.

Travel Day Look:

  • Yellow stripe set

  • White Birkenstock-style sandals

  • Woven shoulder bag

  • Sunglasses for instant polish

Train rides and car days were all about ease—tank dresses, elastic waist shorts, and roomy dresses I could sit in for hours.

Must-Have Accessories for Summer in Europe

Here are the extras that made my outfits feel complete:

  • White crossbody bag that matched every outfit

  • Straw tote for beach and coastal days

  • Baseball cap + sunhat for shade

  • Simple gold hoops and layered necklaces

  • Comfortable walking sandals and white sneakers

Packing Tip: Mix & Match

I built my outfits around a color palette: white, yellow, red, blue, and natural tones. That way, accessories and shoes could work with multiple looks.

If you’re traveling with kids, comfort is key, but you don’t have to sacrifice style. Dresses made it easy for me to feel feminine and ready for any kind of outing.

Final Thoughts: My Summer 2024 Europe Outfit Recap

Every outfit I wore was carefully chosen to be comfortable, photogenic, and mom-friendly. Whether you’re heading to Italy, the French Riviera, or Switzerland, choose lightweight fabrics, stylish walking shoes, and pieces you can wear more than once.

Your Ultimate Winter Trip to Iceland Packing List - Don’t Forget These Essentials!

Iceland has become one of the most popular winter travel destinations, attracting adventurers and nature lovers with its breathtaking landscapes, stunning Northern Lights, and unique geothermal attractions. However, traveling to Iceland in winter means facing freezing temperatures, unpredictable weather, and icy terrains.

Proper packing is crucial to ensure you stay warm, dry, and comfortable while experiencing all that Iceland has to offer. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to pack for a successful and enjoyable winter trip to Iceland. From warm clothing layers to winter gear and essential toiletries, you’ll be fully prepared to explore the Land of Fire and Ice.

1) Warm Layers: Clothing and Accessories

When it comes to Iceland’s winter weather, layering is your best friend. Temperatures can vary greatly, and the wind chill can make it feel even colder. Packing the right layers will help you stay comfortable, no matter the conditions.

Warm Base Layers

Start with thermal base layers to retain heat. Look for high-quality options made from merino wool or synthetic materials designed to wick away moisture while keeping you warm. Thermal tops, thermal leggings, and fleece-lined tights are absolute essentials.

Mid-Layers for Insulation

For your mid-layer, opt for fleece-lined joggers or fleece-lined leggings paired with a cozy sweater or fleece jacket. These layers provide insulation without being bulky, making it easier to move around and stay active.

Outer Layers for Weather Protection

Icelandic weather is known for its unpredictability, so a waterproof winter jacket or puffer jacket is non-negotiable. Choose a jacket that is insulated and windproof to protect you from the elements. A heated jacket can also be a game-changer for those extra chilly days.

Don’t forget to pack a pair of waterproof winter boots with good traction to navigate icy paths and snowy landscapes. Pair them with wool socks to keep your feet warm and dry.

Accessories for Extra Warmth

Complete your winter wardrobe with fleece-lined touchscreen gloves, a warm hat, and a scarf or neck gaiter. These accessories will protect your extremities from the cold while allowing you to use your phone to capture those unforgettable moments. Keep a few hand warmers in your pockets for added warmth during outdoor activities.

2) Winter Gear: Snow and Ice Essentials

Iceland’s icy landscapes and winter activities require specific gear to ensure your safety and enjoyment.

Crampons for Icy Trails

If you plan to explore Iceland’s glaciers, frozen waterfalls, or icy hiking trails, crampons are a must-have. These traction devices attach to your boots, providing extra grip on slippery surfaces.

Ski Goggles for Harsh Conditions

Wind and snow can make visibility challenging, especially in Iceland’s open landscapes. A pair of ski goggles will protect your eyes and improve your visibility during outdoor adventures.

Thermal Blankets for Emergencies

Thermal blankets are lightweight, compact, and can be lifesavers in emergencies. Whether you’re on a road trip or hiking, it’s always wise to carry one.

Renting Winter Gear

If you don’t own all the gear, consider renting items like crampons or ski goggles from local shops in Reykjavik or at popular tourist sites. This can save you space in your luggage while ensuring you have the right equipment for your trip.

3) Electronics and Photography Equipment

Iceland is a photographer’s dream, with its stunning landscapes, glaciers, and Northern Lights. To capture the beauty of this winter wonderland, pack the right electronics and photography gear.

Essential Camera Gear

A high-quality camera is essential for photographing Iceland’s natural wonders. Don’t forget to bring spare batteries, as cold weather drains battery life quickly. A portable charger is another must-have to keep all your devices powered on the go.

For those wanting to capture professional-quality photos, consider bringing a tripod for long-exposure shots of the Northern Lights. A wide-angle lens is also recommended for capturing Iceland’s expansive landscapes.

Waterproof Electronics Cases

With Iceland’s unpredictable weather, protecting your electronics from moisture is crucial. Pack waterproof cases or dry bags for your camera and phone to avoid damage.

4) Toiletries and Medications

Staying clean and healthy is essential for enjoying your trip, especially when dealing with cold weather and outdoor activities.

Toiletries for Harsh Conditions

The cold air and wind in Iceland can take a toll on your skin. Pack a good moisturizer, lip balm with SPF, and sunscreen to protect your skin from the elements. Hand warmers are also useful for keeping your hands comfortable during outdoor adventures.

Your Ultimate Winter Trip to Iceland Packing List - Don’t Forget These Essentials!Swimsuit for Hot Springs

Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit! Iceland is famous for its geothermal hot springs and lagoons, such as the Blue Lagoon and Secret Lagoon. Soaking in the warm waters is a must-do activity, even in the winter.

Medications and First Aid

Pack any prescription medications you need, as well as over-the-counter items like pain relievers and motion sickness pills. If you’re planning to drive or take a boat tour, these can come in handy. A small first-aid kit is also a good idea for minor injuries or emergencies.

Proper packing can make or break your winter trip to Iceland. By following this ultimate packing list, you’ll be well-prepared to handle Iceland’s chilly temperatures, snowy landscapes, and unforgettable adventures. From warm layers like fleece-lined tights and waterproof winter jackets to essential winter gear and toiletries, every item on this list will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip.

Happy Monday!

Sorry for being MIA on the blog for a week. We took a 7-day cruise and the internet was so bad. I am back now and will be able to show you all of the pictures from our recent trip. Let me start off with all my looks from the beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico.

These dresses below will also be perfect…

Exploring San Juan

San Juan was the second port we visited out of the four on our itinerary, but it has a unique vibe compared to the others. You can see the rich culture of this country, especially considering they are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Irma.

Castillo San Cristobal

The gorgeous view of the city from Castillo San Cristobal, where my Look 1 was taken, is breathtaking. The beautiful fortress offers a lot of historical insights. It reminds me of Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila, my hometown in the Philippines. Both were discovered by the Spanish in 1521.

Must-Try Local Delicacies

Puerto Rico is where you can taste the best Piña Colada, as it originated there. Another must-try is their very tasty mofongo.

Outfits for San Juan

Now, let me talk about the outfits:

First Dress: It was really flowy and perfect for being blown away by the warm breeze, ideal for summer trips like this.
Second Dress: This dress blended in perfectly with the colorful architecture of the city and was so light.

Travel Recommendation

I highly recommend you visit this beautiful city, either by cruise or flying in. However, the kids did not enjoy this port as much because all they wanted to do was swim, swim, and more swim.

Your Thoughts?
